FOLLOWING the Dukeries rally, Griffin Motorsport is now second in the AEMC championship.

Back to action, Griffin travelled to Southwell, near Nottingham, and after a few mechanical problems, started well on a dry and dusty track.

A good start saw them well placed following stages one and two, and at the end of the fourth stage the Royston-based team were fourth overall in their class.

An exciting, yet nervous stage five saw the team almost spin off the road, but pulling the car back, Griffin continued to chase the pack.

With four stages to go, it moved up to third and was 32 seconds off the overall leaders.

Stages six and seven saw Griffin push hard, and as a result cut the difference to 22 seconds going into the penultimate stage.

Another hard-fought round saw Griffin move further up the field, to finish second.

Griffin also picked up maximum points in the BTRDA championship and maximum points in the MSA gravel rally championships.
