YOUNG Thriplow racer and former Freman College student Ed Heinzelmann is set to showcase his talents at the London Motorsport Show by taking part in the event's minicross exhibition.
The 21-year-old will also be joined by Shelley Wakeling, who is the 2007 mini-cross champion, and administrator of Revivals Garage in Thriplow.
The pair will compete against each other and a host of other racers at the Excel Centre in London Docklands on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9.
Ed, whose car is sponsored by the Heath Sports Club, said: "Mini-cross is a fantastic style of racing and very exciting. I think a few people will definitely be surprised because it's a very good spectacle for people to watch. Hopefully the event will get more people involved in this type of racing."
The event is being billed as the 'UK's most innovative motorsport show' and will feature a wide variety of activities and exhibitions.
There will be a display feature of karts designed to show newcomers how to get started in racing as well as a 'arrive and drive' track which has been designed to test drivers regardless of their experience.
There will also be a careers village that will inform visitors about gaining qualifications, apprenticeships and scholarships.
This year also sees the introduction of the 'girls in motorsport' feature, which encourages women to take an active role in various aspects of racing.
Other features include a historic car zone, seminar stage, contemporary and classic racing cars and a variety of trade stands.
One of the highlights of the weekend, however, will be the event's circuit arena which will see 100 racers battle it out over the two days in which both Ed and Shelley will go head-to-head in their minis.
Shelley said: "There's a friendly rivalry between me and Ed, and I think we're both really looking forward to the show, it should be a great couple of days."
- The event runs from 9.30am-8pm on the Saturday and from 9.30am-5pm on the Sunday. Ticket prices range from £8 - £13, with family tickets available from £22. For more information visit the website www.londonmotorsport.co.uk
