KIEREN Clark secured another top 10 finish in the Formula Renault UK Championship thanks to a stunning start in round four.

In front of a packed crowd and tv viewers the 19-year-old Royston-based driver impressed once more, despite his Saturday qualifying sessions not yielding the promise he had hoped for.

In the first race, starting on the outside of the banked Rockingham straight, Clark made a good start but Rossi, on the inside position made an even better one and relegated both Clark and Josh Scott, Clark's Apotex Scorpio team mate, back one place.

Clark chased hard and by lap eight he slipped inside and chased Rossi all the way, with a 15th place finish the best the youngster could do.

In race two, Clark started on the inside of the track, and he got off to another stunning start, shooting up the inside and making up five places into the first hairpin.

Clark chased Sten Pentus ahead of him and in the next lap managed to take the position on the fast run in to the first hairpin for ninth place.

James Calado was also moving up, and challenging Clark on lap 10 cutting on the inside and banking for a clean move into the first hairpin.

However, Clark re-took position at the next hairpin, but Calado got the better grip on the exit and managed to pull past on the run on to the main straight.

Clark did manage to pull some space over the remaining laps of what was an exciting 24 lap race, for a well deserved 10th place finish.

He said afterwards: "That was such a great start, and I managed to keep away from everyone into the tight hairpin. I got away well, but just couldn't make up enough speed to get any advantage.

"I was determined to get among the pack, but I couldn't keep there. But I got another top 10 finish though, so I'm really chuffed with that! I've now got to sort out my qualifying!"

The next rounds of the Formula Renault UK championship will take place at Donington on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.

The event will again be supporting the British Touring Car Championship, with live television coverage on the Sunday.
