Royston Town Colts 8

Royston brushed the hosts aside in what proved to be a one-sided affair at Stevenage.

With the manager taking the opportunity to experiment, winger Dominic Oxenford found himself up front for the day and clearly relished the opportunity, opening Colts' account in less than 60 seconds when he latched onto a sloppy back pass and rounded the keeper.

His second followed minutes later when he controlled an excellent cross from Adam Jinkerson and fired home from 15 yards.

The one-way traffic continued and midway through the half it was Roger Skeggs's turn, intercepting an Austen clearance and coolly lofting the ball over the keeper. Oxenford notched up his hat-trick by converting an excellent through ball from midfield.

Both Richard Chapman and Connor Barnard came close before Oxenford bagged his fourth and best of the day, a looping shot from a sharp angle that found the far top corner of the net.

After the break, irrepressible Barnard found the net for Colts' sixth, despite being on defensive duties for the day, following great work down the left by Craig Lucken and Ryan Ingrey.

Jack Tidey bagged the seventh, with the sweetest of strikes from 25 yards, before Austen grabbed a deserved late consolation.

But that still left time for Chapman to a the post and for Barnard to grab his second of the day, rounding off an excellent afternoon for the visitors.
