ROYSTON Town will face Ridgeons League opposition again when they kick off their FA Cup campaign on Saturday, August 19.

The Crows have been drawn at home against Harwich & Parkeston in the extra preliminary round. The Essex side finished second from bottom in the Premier Division last season, but that should provide little comfort for new boss Phil Snowden.

The Crows went out of last year's competition against Clacton Town at the first hurdle. The 2-1 win proved to be Clacton's only win of the season as they finished rock bottom of the Premier Division.

They gained just one point, finishing 31 points adrift, and conceded 179 goals in 42 games, as well as losing their other five cup games.

If the Crows are successful they will receive £500 prize money and have another home game against Ridgeons League opposition in the preliminary round, against either Division One Walsham-le-Willows or Premier outfit Leiston, a fortnight later.

If Royston can battle their way through those two games, they will travel to Bowers & Pitsea, Haringey Borough or Dunstable Town.

Royston's run of home draws continues in the FA Vase, with a bye in the first qualifying round before they hosti fellow Spartan South Midlands League strugglers Ruislip Manor on September 23.

Victory in that game would earn a trip to either Tiptree United or Harwich & Parkeston on October 7.

However, the Crows will face at least one away trip in cup competitions as they will travel to Sawbridgeworth Town in the Herts Charity Shield first round. The game is likely to take place in early August.

The Crows' only confirmed friendly sees them entertain Cambridge City on Tuesday August 1.
