NICOLA Tyrell led the 18-strong Royston Runners contingent home in Sunday's Flora London Marathon.

Royston Runners took to the road on Sunday for the the hottest London Marathon since 1996 when temperatures hit 21C at midday.

However, the heat did not deter Tyrrell, who was first Royston Runner home achieving a personal best 3:18:10, knocking more than a minute off last year's time, and finishing 56th in her age group and 2309th overall.

Andrew Pope was next home finishing in 3:36:33 followed by Leesa Duff in 3:43:39.

It was another excellent year for the club with Karen Anderson, Catherine Brown, Alison Clarke and Kate Pratt running their first marathons.

The club runners hope to raise more than £6,000 for charity which include Visually Impaired Children Taking Action, Asthma UK, Children with Leukaemia and cancer research.
