RIDERS from Royston BMX Club joined more than 400 other competitors for the sixth round of the BMX Racing National Summer Season in Chesterfield.

The Rockets' involvement started with their youngest member, Kele Newall, and he took a deserved second place in the B final of the six and under class.

In the seven-year class Josh Peters finished fourth in the A final, while Ted Dalleywater had to settle for seventh with Mamaduke Birt failing to qualify.

Taking second spot in the eight-year class A final, Ethan Vernon maintained his challenge to be the number one rider, while Aaron Dalleywater took the win in the B final ahead of Bradan Blanche who finished fifth.

The 11-12 Year class A final, James Handleigh finished seventh, and in the 13-14- year class Aston Blanche also struggled, and he too failed to qualify for the final.

In the junior female final, Katie Roberts continued her fine form, finishing third, while in the elite class, more success came Royston's way, with Laurence Mapp's second place finish doing much for his defence of the national title.

n The Rockets will be back in action on Sunday for the Inter Regional meet between the Midlands and East Anglia at Peterborough BMX Club from 10am-4.30pm.
