A NEW forum set up in North Herts has been described as an "exciting opportunity" for sport.
The forum, Sport North Herts, will be working with district agencies and it aims to:
- Increase participation - particularly developing initiatives that will attract young people in the age range 14-19, those over 45 and women across all age groups.
- Supporting initiatives that seek to strengthen the bonds between schools and clubs.
- Raising the quality of coaching
- Recognising and assisting in the development of young people with the 2012 Olympics in mind.

Ken Charles, who has become chairman of Sport North Herts, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to widen our perspective of sport and recreation in various directions."
Part of the forum's role will be to introduce new modes of keeping fit and reducing the incidence of obesity.
