Royston Runners joined more than 900 competitors for the Standalone 10k in Letchworth at the weekend.

The gently undulating race started downhill on Wilbury Road and after a short sharp climb the course flattened as runners raced towards the Grange Road roundabout.

A gradual incline took the runners past Norton Common up to the Norton roundabout, where it became a flat 3K run before the fast flat finish back to the farm.

Ian Murray led the way for Royston, finishing in fourth place with a time of 33:39 minutes.

He was followed by John Newell in 37:39 minutes, Bob Sheldrick 45:01, Tony Price 46:47, Paul Minion 46:31, Karl Howard 46:47, Alison Castle 57:38 and Maureen Miller 58:19.
