ROYSTON'S Mick O'Flanagan has made it into the final of the L&D Singles competition after a close win over Jim Winters of Stevenage.

The impressive O'Flanagan won 21-18 in an entertaining encounter with Winters mounting a late comeback.

The Vets were also in action when they travelled to Welwyn & District BC. After going down by a whopping 19 shots on one rink, Royston were always going to struggle. And it was a Welwyn advantage that proved to strong with Royston eventually crashing to a 104-75 defeat.

The club also held its annual finals day, with 16 finals.

ETERNIT held their annual John Ash memorial open triples competition in which 24 teams took part.

The event even featured teams from London. Colin Banks' team from Alexandra Beehive in Cambridge won the final playoff after seeing off Jeremy Boakes' team from Letchworth Romans 11-0.

A cash prize and trophy was presented to both finalists, with money raised being donated to the Alzheimer's Research Trust - the competition's chosen charity.
