THE Meridian School squad have got their season off to a strong start with a number of athletes getting among the top three places.

In their first fixture, at the Ridlins track in Stevenage, the school came up against seven other schools in the North Herts area.

The Meridian School fielded strong teams in each year group, with the Year 9 girls and boys finishing as their year winners.

The Year 10 and 11 boys also claimed top spot, with the Year 10 and 11 girls finishing second overall.

The squad, which is also in the Cambridgeshire schools competition, then travelled to Netherhall School in Cambridge. Their final positions did not match up to their opening fixture, but a number still achieved excellent results.
