Meridian School’s Year 10 netball team have been crowned district champions for the second successive year.

The girls remain unbeaten for two seasons in their district league and at the district tournament, contested by nine teams from North Hertfordshire.

In the first round of matches Meridian secured wins over Nobel School, Princess Helena College and Thomas Alleyne Academy but a tighter match against St Christopher School from Letchworth went to the last minute with goals from Molly Davies and Daisy Needham securing victory.

The team beat St Francis College 9-6 in the semi-finals to book their place in the final against Hitchin Girls’ School, a match which they won 8-6.

Head of girls’ PE, miss Crawford-Smith, said: “They have a winning mentality that no one can break and achieved something no Meridian netball team has achieved before.”
