Melbourn Judo Club Players returned from the Eastern Area Closed Championships with a clutch of medals recently.
Five players represented the club and brought back four golds and one silver.
First up was Katrina Scales who won the silver medal in a pool of five in the girl’s under-32kg category. Imogen Ranner (U40kg) had an outstanding day, winning all three contests in under 10 seconds.
Dan White and Tom Fox took part in the U30kg boys’ section. For a novice in his first competition, Tom fought brilliantly, winning his first fight with a beautiful 10-point score.
He didn’t manage to progress to the medals, though, but continues to be a real prospect for the future. Emma Reid, 15, won gold in both the youth (12-16) and senior (16+) U63kg section. This marked the end of a fantastic year for Emma who won bronze in the Junior Nationals in October and a place in the England Cadet squad.
