THE Royston Runners returned to action at the weekend with a determined showing in the Watford cross country at Cassiobury Park.

Fourteen Royston athletes took part in the five-and-a-half mile event around the park and surrounding woods.

Michelle Maxwell was first home for the ladies with a brilliant fourth-place finish, while Richard Lowden led the men home in 16th position.

It was the last fixture in the club's cross country league season, and club captains Sean Allen, Paul Haynes, Natalie Lowden and Libby Watson have thanked all the members who have taken part.
