Drawn against the strongest Melbourn rink, despite a slow start, they led their opponents 12-4. Oliver and Jamie kept every head tight and followed Ian's example for a well deserved 21-10 win.

Although the night did not go so well for Bassingbourn on rink one, as Anne Brown, Joe Cippulo, and Graham Parrish went down 21-11.

Don Slater, Dave Lester, and Andy Brown also suffered a defeat and at one point were 6-0 down.

Pride was restored however, with the club's last triple, Maureen Hammond, Sid Manning and Ken Clark running out comfortable 20-10 winners in a one-sided match.

Overall Bassingbourn beat Melbourn 64-59 and achieved the five points they needed to retain the championship despite having three matches to play.
