ROYSTON Bowls Club will have plenty of representatives in the Letchworth & District League finals.

Newly crowned national under-25 National Champion Matt Coppen continued his good run of form as he recovered from 8-5 down against M Hyde of Knebworth to ease into the Champion of Champions Cup with a 21-8 win.

Don Sheriff and Mel Flack powered their way in the pairs final with a seven-shot victory against Datchworth's Dave Wright and S Chamberlain in a game played at Baldock.

In the singles, also played at Baldock, Peter Adams bounced back after a slow start to with 21-14 against S Cook of the Reobuck Club

Royston's other singles player was Mick O'Flanagan who had a much closer game against his opponent, J Winters of Stevenage.

Advantage swung from one player to the other throughout the game. In the end O'Flanagan produced a very accurate delivery, which removed his opponents only counting bowl to win 21-19 and set up an all-Royston final.

In the fours competition, Don Sheriff, Neil Butler, Matt Coppen, and Stewert Brown took on R. Kilford, G. Wood, S. Kilford, and S. Cook of Reobuck at Whitethorn BC.

At one point Royston were eight shots adrift, but a slow climb back brought them to back into the game and they eventually sneaked home by a single shot.

Welwyn Vets visited Royston on Wednesday to play the Royston Vets in a five rinks of triples game.

This was the last vets' game of the season, and Royston were hoping to end in a blaze of glory, but they were piped at the post by Welwyn who won by just three shots, 87-84.
