Two injury-time strikes from Ryan Ingrey and Jack Bradshaw rescued a draw from the jaws of defeat at Garden Walk on Tuesday night.

Bradshaw’s stunning 25-yard free- kick equaliser was just reward for a dominant second half performance as the Crows laid siege to the visitors’ goal.

Royston battled whole-heartedly in the opening 45 minutes but slack defending let them down twice, allowing Antonio Simeone and George Frith to profit and hand Godalming a 2-0 half-time lead.

From the moment captain Kaan Fehmi had a shot blocked bravely two minutes after the break, a home goal seemed inevitable for much of the second period.

However, it did not materialise until the game’s dramatic finale.

Steve Castle’s men would not have needed such luck had a couple of their array of chances hit the net beforehand.

Fehmi’s cheeky 15th-minute effort from fully 40 yards, with the keeper wandering, was not the most clear-cut, but would have been the early tonic Royston required.

As it was, less than two minutes later, the ball rolled invitingly to Simeone on the edge of the box and he slammed past Ron Yates.

The home side continued to fight and should have been level through.

First, Chris Watters’ shot was stopped by a Godalming leg and then, Ryan Wharton’s header from a corner was hacked off the line.

Having rode their luck, the Surrey side potently added a 36th-minute second.

Another loose ball outside the box found the onrushing boot of Frith, who guided the ball home.

The Crows re-emerged for the second half early for a vigorous warm-up and it seemed to galvanise the home side.

Feisty Fehmi was unlucky not to add to his 12-goal league tally with two efforts that were turned wide by custodian Richard Ossai.

Substitute Gary Hart then saw his shot spectacularly saved by the busy Ossai with the momentum growing.

No Royston replies as the clock ticked over into added time almost certainly spelled defeat, but when Ingrey rounded the keeper for 2-1, the Crows believed.

Cue Bradshaw’s 98th minute set-piece blast to send Royston into raptures and Godalming cursing the referee.

Castle cited it as karma for having Scott Bridges unjustly sent off in the reverse fixture earlier in the month.

Either way, Royston got out of jail.
