STEVE Marriott lifted Royston Golf Club’s Adamson China Cup.

The event is 36 holes of medal play competition for men off 18 handicap and below.

On a bright clear day with a tricky wind and some tortuous pin positions, many of those entered were still in with a chance after the morning 18 holes with scores ranging from 68 to the mid 70s.

In the afternoon round however, one player excelled.

Steve Marriott, playing off nine handicap, recorded a net 74 in the morning round, but only dropped one shot gross in the afternoon round to record a net 62 and a total for the two rounds of 136.

In second place was Scott Parnell who fired a net 71 and net 70, total 141, and in third Mark Crowley with 69 and 72 for a 141 total also.

In the single stableford competition, 17-year-old Ryan Sharp won with 38 points just edging out Eric Baker also on 38 points.

Paul Noonan was third with 36 points.

In the Men’s Medal, Alan Evans recorded a net 66 ahead of Chris Taylor also on net 66 and James Richardson on net 69.

The Junior Medal was won by an on-form Ryan Sharp with net 71 from Robbie Norman with net 75 and Matthew Bailey with net 76.

The Thursday Medal was won by Jason Worboys with a net 65 ahead of Mick Joyner with net 66 and Chris Little with net 70.

The Ladies Medal was won by Karen Pearson with net 75 ahead of Mary Wilson also with net 75 and Libby Toby with net 77
