BUNTINGFORD were in seventh heaven on Saturday after recording their fourth consecutive victory and moving up to second in the Herts Senior County League.

A hat-trick from Tom Malins - his second treble of the season - helped them demolish Bedmond Sports at The Bury.

The victory put them three points behind leaders Metropolitan Police Bushey, and ahead of Whitewebbs, who they face this Saturday, on goal difference.

Manager Paul Attfield said: "We showed the right attitude to the game throughout, when it could have been quite easy to just go through the motions.

"By the second half the game became little more than a good training exercise, but once again our creativity and team play in stages was exceptional and really entertaining for the crowd."

Town opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Duncan Easley, who prodded the ball over the line from close range after Jamie Babbage's volley came back off the bar.

Bedmond could have equalised two minutes later with what proved to be their only chance of the match.

Poor marking at a corner allowed their striker to get a free header on goal which Damion Williamson did well to block.

After this, Buntingford took control, and two bullet headers from Malins made it 3-0 at half- time.

The home side continued their onslaught in the second half, with Bedmond's inexperienced back line struggling to cope with some slick approach play.

Substitute Matt Turl scored the fourth with another header, before adding the fifth with a rasping drive into the top of the net following good work from Danny Nicholls.

Turl missed a number of chances to complete his hat-trick, before Malins finished his with a 12-yard shot which found the net via a post.

The scoring was rounded off by Dean Chaffey, who bundled home a right-wing cross from close range in the dying minutes.

Buntingford: Williamson, Endacott, Easley, Cain, J Babbage, CDe Lacy (Gary Christie), M Smith, Malins, W Turl (M Turl), Nicholls, Young (Chaffey).
