Luke Mossey sets sights on the British Superbikes Championship title glory

The 23-year old Royston rider successfully made it to the title showdown at Oulton Park on Sunday with a career-best second place finish in the final race. He managed to push Michael Laverty of Tyco BMW out of the running to claim the spot with an electrifying performance at the Cheshire track.

Mossey is now aiming for the championship title.

“I knew the second race would be make or break for the Quattro Plant TECcare team and I just dug as deep as possible. I managed to stay focused and stay with the leaders,” said Mossey.

“Everything went right and finally I had a bit of luck. Last year I was seventh and now I’m in the top six and in a showdown position.”

“Considering a couple of rounds ago we were scratching our heads wondering how we were going to make it happen, it’s a brilliant feeling.”

Donington Park in Derbyshire is a historic and much-loved circuit for both riders and spectators.

This prestigious track rewards those that can combine concentration with smooth riding.

It’s a demanding course of two halves with a technical series of sweeping bends, followed by a number of short straights separated by slow corners.

“I love riding at Donington, it’s one of my favourite tracks and really suits my style. It’s very similar to a lot of the circuits I rode when I was racing in Spain, and I believe I can get a good result there on Sunday,” said Mossey.

Round 10 is Mossey’s first chance to go for that championship title.

He is just 40 points away from the top spot, currently held by JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider Leon Haslam and with three rounds still to go,

Mossey is ready to fight all the way. “It feels so good to be in the showdown and our goal now is to finish in the top four of the championship,” said Mossey. “The team is going to dig deep, we want to be on the podium as much as possible and we’re now aiming for that first win of the season,” he concluded.
