ROYSTON Town's under-nines A team beat their Buntingford counterparts 1-0 in blustery conditions.

The result was closer than the game suggested, with Royston having plenty of chances to add to their single goal.

It was left to Max Logan to put away the winner, and good play by defender Jamie Penn helped keep a clean sheet.

A hard fought derby game between Royston's under-nines B team and Buntingford Whites finished in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams had to wait until the second half to get their goals with cunning Tom Fox grabbing Royston's, only for it to be cancelled out later in the game.

Royston Town's under-nines C team had more luck, running out 4-0 victors over Hatfield thanks to a hat trick by Danny Baulk.

A fantastic team effort by the ever-improving C side was based upon solid midfield work combined with fluent, exciting attacks.

In addition to Baulk's three goal haul, Tom Turner scored the fourth to cap a great team display.

Another hat trick, this time from Ben Blowers, helped Bassingbourn Youth under-11s to a 7-3 victory over Eynesbury Rovers.

The young striker gave the visitors the perfect start with an early goal before Evan Goldman doubled the lead after running on from a Jacob Stekly through ball.

Stekly then got himself on the scoresheet with a lob over the keeper to make it 3-0 at half time. Eynesbury scored early in the second half but within minutes a Nathan Beynon shot against the post was turned in by Blowers.

Player of the match Stekly got his second to make it 5-1 before Eynesbury clawed a goal back, but a third for Blowers and a second for Goldman made it 7-2, with Bassingbourn getting a third late on.

Hormead Hares under-12s fought well but went down 4-1 to Bedwell Rangers in the League Cup.

Bedwell, who are two divisions above their rivals, scored first and their early lead gave the m the impetus to go on and score two more.

Although Hares constantly out-passed their opponents, they were unfortunate to lose another goal and went into the break 4-0 down.

They did manage to grab a consolation goal in the second half through Bryce Hagger, but it was too little too late.

Hormead Hares' under-15 team remain top after a comfortable 5-1 win away at Pangshanger Yellows.

On 12 minutes Jordan Green bundled a corner over the line to give his side the lead and the second half saw Hormead score four more goals - two apiece from Joe Pemberton and Rufus Pratt - while their opponents were able to score a solitary consolation goal.

Windy conditions played its part in Melbourn Dynamos Panthers' 3-1 loss away to Bedwell Rangers.

Playing into the wind in the first half made life difficult and a couple of defensive lapses saw the Panthers go into the break 3-0 down.

The away team were able to grab a goal back in the second half through Charlie Weber, but it was no good and the Panthers went home empty handed.

Buntingford Cougars under-10s moved into pole position in Division A with a 1-0 win against Stevenage Borough A.

The goal came midway through the first half when Ryan Peck skilfully drove a left foot shot into the top corner.

The Cougars under-10s Whites were also sharing the field with Stevenage borough, but were unable to match their colleagues' win.

The Whites found themselves 2-0 down at half time against an unbeaten Stevenage side and did well to play throughout the second half without conceding further goals.

Knebworth Youth were put to the sword by the Cougars under-11s Blues team, who trashed their opponents 5-0.

Cougars went one up through a Charlie Rome corner that went straight into the goal, but had to wait until the second half for their next four goals.

Tom Burns added to the score and with Charlie Rome getting his second, the Cougars were flying away with the game.

From another fine Rome corner, Alfie Arnold headed home and the scoring was rounded off by Charlie Owen.

Buntingford Cougars under-11s Whites team started well against Bishop's Stortford Rovers, and from a George Woods shot inside the box found themselves 1-0 up at half time.

Stortford equalised after the break, but again the Cougars pushed on.

With just moments remaining Sam Rice hammered the ball home for what looked like being the winner, but Stortford scrambled the ball home with the final kick of the game to make it 2-2.

The Cougars Under-14s played Austin Arrowheads at the weekend and handed their opponents all three points.

The Cougars were unable to convert any of their chances, and lost 3-0.

In a ten-goal thriller against Apollo, Buntingford Cougars under-16s team took on the best team in Division 1.

The game ended 6-4 to their opponents, but the Cougars were unlucky not to have come away with at least a point.

The Cougars goals came courtesy of a Steve Archibald hat trick and a single goal from Scott Piggott.

Manuden under-nines produced one of their best performances of the season against Pin Green, but were unable to take all three points.

They twice went ahead with goals from Jayden Harrington but Pin Green twice battled back to earn a draw.
