LITLINGTON remain sixth in the league following a home draw with table topping Sawston United Reserves.

The visitors began well and tested keeper Ben Bonfield with a number of shots, but Bonfield was up to the challenge and made a series of good saves, including a stunning stop with his feet whilst diving the other way.

Litlington's defenders were also forced into making timely interceptions, with Matthew Cottiss and Ricky Wilson both pulling off decisive last ditch tackles.

The Sawston pressure did eventually pay off after 33 minutes when a strike from the edge of the penalty area found its way through a huddle of players before beating Bonfield and hitting the net.

The goal seemingly spurred Litlington into action and five minutes later they were level thanks to a thunderous 35 yard free kick from Dennis Norman.

By the time players on both teams had re-connected their dropped jaws, Litlington found themselves 2-1 in front when Lee Hunter scored directly from a corner.

The lead wasn't to last and on 52 minutes Sawston striker Schiumbeck-Neumann netted from close range.

Sawston's unrelenting pressure on the Litlington defence took its toll as Ashley Hawkins brought down a visiting player in the box and the referee awarded a spot kick.

Another fantastic save from Bonfield meant Sawston were unable to capitalise and threw Litlington a lifeline.

But it seemed as though Litlington were prepared to forego any attempts at being rescued when just five minutes later they gave away another penalty.

This time it was Kieran Butler at fault when he brought a player down with a miss-timed tackle.

But to everyone's amazement, and Butler's relief, the Sawston spot kicker booted the ball over the bar.

Litlington now began to think this could be their day and a superb tackle and pass from man-of-the-match Matthew Cottiss sent Kieran Butler through on goal to set up a wonderful chance.

Butler dipped his shoulder and left the entire Sawston defence for dead before putting away a clinical finish and burying that earlier penalty incident.

But it still wasn't over; with less than ten minutes remaining Sawston equalised from 12 yards out and both teams had to settle for a point.
