MARK Lewis won the Heydon Grange Golf Club Championship trophy at the weekend.

Played over 36 holes on two days, the event is a great test of a golfer’s skills and endurance.

This year’s Championship saw two vastly different weather days, with the first day benign and warm and the second rainy and squally. The eventual winner is the golfer with the lowest gross score over the two rounds and it was Lewis who battled the elements on the second day to come through with a gross total of 156. Runner-up was Ian Brushett with a gross total of 165.

Lewis also took the trophy for the best nett score with 144. Runner-up with a nett of 148 was Martin Coulson.
