ESSEX and Herts Leopards won the league in style, with their impressive 79-60 win also securing home court advantage for the play-offs.

Their high tempo and energy dominated the game, as both teams played with intensity and fervour. And the quality of both teams produced some entertaining basketball, although it was Brentwood who edged into an early lead.

After a tight second period, the Leopards came out stronger in the third and showed an impressive confidence underneath the basket. Then in the final quarter the Big Cats really opened things up, and romped to a 19-point victory.

Royston youngsters Nathan Crossman, Joe Graves and Neil Addison were instrumental again, with Crossman chalking up 11 points, and seven offensive and defensive rebounds. Graves made one assist and one defensive rebound, while Addison grabbed 12 points, four offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds.

Coach Terry Graves said: "This result was a convincing championship winning performance. The team deserve the league title and will now use it as a springboard for the next part of the season - the national play-offs.
