ROYSTON entertained runaway League leaders Southgate Adelaide in their last competitive match of the year.

The first half saw a much improved Royston restrict their strong opponents to a single goal advantage, in a very impressive first-half performance.

However, the league pacesetters upped the ante in the second half and quickly extended their lead with a well-worked move that ended with a clinical finish from an Adelaide attacker.

The visitors secured the points with three further goals - again after playing some great moves and well worked short corners.

Despite the setback Royston continued to move the ball well throughout the second half and were only denied a consolation goal by a tough visiting defence.

Stevenage V 0 Royston IV 4

ROYSTON deservedly sealed all three points in their re-arranged match with Stevenage on Saturday.

Two goals in each half was more than enough to help end a run of four defeats.

Both first-half goals came as a result of good inter-passing between the midfield of Joshua Jamesion, Simon Campbell and Sam Polge.

The first was finished by Keith Markham, and the second by Arnie Whittiker.

Royston's third goal was converted by Nick Broadley after a well- worked short-corner, and Joshua Jamesion completed the scoring with a neat goal at the far post.

Simon Campbell, making his debut for Royston, had a good game in the centre of midfield, and Perry Noble also stood out in a fine game that rounded off the year well.
