St Albans IV 0 Royston Ladies II 4

HAVING been beaten at home 7-2 by the hosts earlier in the season Royston demonstrated how much they have improved with a well fought 4-0 victory this time.

In a tight first half Royston broke the deadlock half an hour into the match with a powerful strike from player of the match Vicki Bidwell.

After a reshuffle at half time, Royston came out brighter and lead scorer Lucy Davidson added a second before Laura Simpson added a third moments later after connecting with a loose ball in the D.

Royston then found themselves under pressure but two fine saves from Elaine Cook and stern defensive play from Karen Fidell and Clare Perry kept St Albans at bay.

Moments before the end Davidson scored her second of the game with a reverse stick shot to give Royston a resounding victory.

HAVING not played for several weeks and trying a new system Royston took some time to settle into the match and some silly errors saw them 3-0 down at half time.

After a talk from captain Lisa Thompson Royston came out for the second half much more positive and dominated the game from the start. This paid off when Sarah Gourd scored in the D after a well worked move by Karen Mckay and Jess Woodhouse and when 10 minutes later Sarah Gourd hit home.

Unfortunately, the Ladies were unlucky not to score more.
