ROYSTON Tennis Club held its first tournament of the new club year on Saturday.
The Ansmann Trophy challenge had eight pairs of juniors and adults competing and in a very close finish Christine Knight and Sam Tobiss took the trophy with 26 games. Jeremy Tuck and Len Bell were runners-up with 23 games, closely followed by Vicky Hawkins and Isaac Pickett with 22 games in third place.
Along with the trophy, the winners and runners-up were awarded bottles of wine, tee shirts and chocolates.
Meanwhile, in the Herts Summer League, the U14 boys’ team players James Lee, Edward Sclare, George Pemberton and James Sharp had their first match at home to Letchworth which they lost 8-4.
The Adults start their summer matches this week with the ladies’ first team away to Newmarket in their first time in the top division. The men’s first team start their season at home to Exning.
