CCA Junior League 4B Cambourne CC 97 all-out Steeple Morden CC 101-4 Steeple Morden won by six wickets

RICHARD King produced a superb all-round performance as Steeple Morden’s good start to the season continued with a six-wicket victory over Cambourne on Saturday.

After being put into bat, Cambourne lost a wicket in King’s first over as all of the top order batsmen attempted to attack the bowling but King (4-23), supported well by Darren Jarman (3-40), were always in control.

Green top scored with 46 before Martin Osborne (1-16) and Nick Adams (1-2), took the final wickets in a total of 97. Morden had to bat for 10 overs before tea and reached 18-1. Paul Jarman (nine) went straight after tea soon followed by Nick Adams (19) and Phil Saich (0) at 51-4. Cambourne were gaining in confidence but this was short lived, as Duncan Warner joined King in a match-winning partnership. Warner ended on 17* while Man of the Match, King, was unbeaten on 42. Next week Morden travel to Barley.
