Former Melbourn Judo club player Emma Reid has been selected to represent Great Britain at a European Cup tournament in Portugal on March 15.
As part of her preparation, Reid took part in the English Open on Sunday and won gold in both the junior and senior competitions.
For a domestic event, the English Open is second only to the National championships, where Reid won gold in the juniors and was fifth in the seniors back in December.
Reid, pictured below, is now at Coventry University and she trains five nights a week, locally and at the British Judo centre of excellence in Walsall.
Tomas Zaleckis also took part in the English Open and did well to win one fight and 10 more points towards his black belt.
