JM JUDOKWAI have received an invitation to join a Hertfordshire-based Judo Club League, proposed by St Albans Judo Club. The league will be inaugurated by five clubs, the JM Club, St Albans, Luton School of Judo, Lyonsdown Judo Club, in Barnet, and Shinto Judo Club, from Enfield. The league will be played on a home and away basis, and each club will visit each other on pre-arranged dates and have an inter-club competition. At the end of the season, a cup will be awarded to the club coming out on top of the league. The cup is to be named after the legendary figure in Hertfordshire judo - 6th Dan Alf Leatherdale, and Sensei Leatherdale has accepted the invitation to present the cup at the end of each year. JM coach John Massmann said: "We are delighted to accept the invitation, as it gives another four opportunities to visit other clubs for an evenings excellent competition under the friendliest of circumstances. "Our club members can tire of competing amongst themselves week after week, and excepting for the weekend championships that are not too frequent now, this league will provide an important stimulus to our competing membership.
