Joseph’s double puts Hares in control

The under 8s Blacks played a fast passing game, to dominate one of the strongest teams in the division - Stevenage Borough Tigers.

The 3-1 scoreline, away from home and on an unforgiving pitch was testament to a great team performance. Leading goal scorer Joseph de Souza notched up another brace and a determined effort from Harry Jarman sealed what was one of their best team performances of the season.

The Oranges had to battle for their 2-1 victory with the pitch once more playing its part. This was a determined performance from Hormead, with goals from Michael Hicks and man-of-the-match Owen Huges.

Jack Congrave was unfortunate to have what looked a good goal disallowed, but the team's grit never let them down, and they withstood a series of attacks from the home team, to emerge with a deserved victory.

Playing top of the league opposition was always going to be difficult for the under- 13 girls. With Hares missing seven players, Cambridge bagged five goals in the first half. The Cambridge keeper made several good saves to deny Hormead a reply. Hormead dominated 20 minutes of the second half with improved defending and strong all round performances. However, they shipped a further three goals in what was a very disappointing performance.

The league leaders, under- 13 boys travelled to second placed Arlesey in what should have been the game of the season.

Despite Hormead's early dominance two controversial decisions spoiled the day and gifted Arlesey a two-goal lead at the break.

The second half turned into an ill tempered affair, with Hares not getting the rub of the green. Despite this, Hormead kept their cool and battled well. The nature of the game showed with Hormead being awarded two penalties, but they were unable to convert them, and went down to a very disappointing 3-0 defeat.
