SUNDAY'S Lucy & Natalie Godfrey Memorial Trophy has one of the more unusual formats for competitions held at Heydon Grange each year.

With all players having to complete Heydon's 27 holes, the result is decided by drawing lots for which two of the three nines will count towards the trophy.

This year it was those competitors with the greatest staying power who came out on top after the clubhouse draw resulted in the final two nine holes of the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire courses were selected.

David Jolley (12) secured his third trophy of the year when his 40 Stableford points took him well clear of the field to take the men's title by four shots from Derek Moatt (10) on 36 points.

Ladies' honours went to Dawn Glennie (10) with 38 points who just beat ladies captain Roz McKenzie (18) by one point. Third place went to Tina Broadley (8) on 36 points.

On Saturday September 2, Heydon members and their guests compete in the annual charity fundraising event for Ataxia UK and East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The Ryder Cup format competition will see an England contingent take on the Rest of the World.
