Reed II were comfortable winners in a low-scoring match at Aston on Sunday.

Aston won the toss and elected to bat first in the 40 over game, but struggled to score against some tight Reed bowling backed up by a good all round fielding display. Danny Champion(8-1-13-1) and Jason Pallet (8-1-22-1) were the pick of the performance.

For Aston, Asknham (25) batted steadily but regularly lost partners. O,Hanlon junior (23) and the skipper O'Hanlon senior (25) were the only other significant scorers, and the innings was closed at 115-8 after 40 overs.

Reed's reply started with a flurry of extras as the young Aston attack struggled for control.

David Johnson (25) batted well and with good support from Graham Hazzard (15) Matt Bowles (16) and Fergus Martin (14), Reed reached 98-3.

A minor collapse saw the score drop to 105-6 before some big hitting from Ian Roberts (12 not out)saw Reed home in the 26th over.

Reed under-11s took maximum points with a 59 run win against Hertford B.

Put in to bat, Reed got off to an excellent start with James Hooper and William Heslam putting on 66 for the first wicket before Heslam was run out for 21.

Hooper continued to dominate until retired for 30, while Harry Keam (9), Daniel Share (6), and Matthew Naeem (5), aided by a large number of extras, saw Reed's total to a sizeable 133-3.

In reply Mills 11 and Holmes 10 played some powerful boundary strokes, but Hertford were unable to get near the required rate.

Josh Poulton (2-14) was the most successful of Reed's seven bowlers, as Hertford could total only 74-5 from their 20 overs.
