BASSINGBOURN Golf Club held its Captain’s Day on Saturday with father and son duo John and Tom Moody taking top spot.

Twenty two pairs took part in the Greensomes event, which raised money for Scope’s Meldreth Manor School, and Barbara Burnett, the regional fundraiser, presented the prizes and made a moving speech on how contributors make a real difference to pupils. A major objective is to enable pupils to attend the Paralympic Games in 2012.

John and Tom won outright with 41 points and were followed by another father and son pair, Peter and Martin Blayney, with 35 points. Anthony and Suzanne Davies finished in third place, also on 35 points.

Tom Moody was the winner of the nearest the pin contest out of the bunker and picked up the beautifully crafted trophy created and kindly donated by member Peter Miller.

Forty two lottery prizes were generously donated by members towards the charity, and prizes were drawn by young Lauren Burnett.
