JADE Freeman scooped the Malton Golf Club junior championship at the weekend, despite having played the game only twice this year.
Jade, 14, beat off competition from 16 other players to take the title.
Malton Golf Club professional Kevin Evans said: "Jade is a good player, and hopefully this win will give her more confidence."
Players from Malton and the Gog Magog Golf Club took part in the competition, with Max Cooper winning the under-13 competition, which was played over nine holes.
"It was a good day, and there were a lot of promising young golfers on show," said Kevin.
