Winchmore Hill and Enfield III 1 Royston III 4
ROYSTON travelled to North London and came back with all three points from this one-sided encounter.
The visitors spent most of the first half camped inside their opponents half and played some patient attacking hockey.
The forward line of Paul Bloomfield, Colin Bateman and Michael Welding caused constant problems and it was the work of Bloomfield that gave Royston a well-deserved two-goal lead.
However celebrations were short lived when Royston goalkeeper Gary Pinner was left stranded on the stroke of half-time for Winchmore Hill to pull one back.
The second half brought changes, with George Moffat and Tim Yow coming into the fore.
The change pushed the visitors into another gear, with Yow scoring from the edge of the D, before a fourth was added.
League action has now stopped for Royston until January, and lying in third place, they are well-placed to continue their challenge in the new year.
Stevenage VI 1 Royston V 1
ROYSTON played Stevenage for the second time this season - and this was a much tougher encounter for the visitors.
Both sides had to do plenty of defending, in a game that was dominated by the counter attack.
Royston opened the scoring thanks to a Steve Gourd short corner.
But in the second half Stevenage piled on the pressure, looking for a quick equaliser.
And their determination was rewarded midway through the second period, as they pulled one back from open play.
