A BUSY week for Royston Golf Club saw two medals and a greensomes competition take place. The Thursday medal was won by Steve Board (89-19=70). Second was Alan Evans (92-20=72) and in third place was Tim Moss (81-8=73). The Saturday medal attracted a large field and Steve Gorman, won by one shot (80-12=68) pipping Matt McGuigan (87-18=69) and Mark Rogers (70-1=69). The Sunday morning greensomes stableford had a full field of 100 players and was won by Nick Leah and Robin Christie with 42 points. Their playing partners Nigel Thomas and Terry Harvey finished second with 41 points. Third on countback were Alf Sheehan and Colin Saban. The ladies held their January Luncheon Stableford over 12 holes and the winner after countback with 23 points was Sally Campbell-Grey. Shirley Bradshaw was runner-up with Marjory Humphreys third. The Thomson Tour on Monday saw the tour for professional golfers from around the region. Overall winner with a two under par 68 was Richard Beadles from Brampton Park. Tied second were Graham Tippett from Brickendon Grange and John Bullas from Chatham in Kent on 71.
