A YOUNG horserider won her second competition on Saturday.
Clare Hobson, 19, of Reed, competed in the Horseheath Hunts Club Members Race at Horseheath near Haverhill and beat off stiff competiton from six other riders - including last year's winner.
"It was amazing to win" said Clare, who came fourth in her first club race last year.
"It was quite close between me and the rider who came first last time.
"We were within 3/4 of a length of each other."
Clare started horseriding when she was just three years old, but admitted she was surprised to win her second race on her mum's horse Scare Lotte.
"She's quite a good horse, and I knew she would keep up," she said.
"But the ground was quite soft so I wasn't quite sure what would happen."
Clare was not the only one celebrating her victory.
Her parents Harry and Rosemary were also there to support her.
They bred the horse, and her father trains her.
"It was nice because it was a family event," said Clare.
"I ride two horses a day at the moment and regularly take them to Newmarket to canter them."
Clare was presented with a trophy by Lord Vesty, the owner of Horseheath.
"It was an honour," she said.
