Promotion-chasing Hertford condemned Royston to defeat on Sunday, with The Crows coming unstuck against a strong attack.

It was a shaky start by Royston, with their opponents winning far too many turnovers to end the quarter 13-5 in front.

The introduction of Natalie Williams at goal-defence gave the visitors a boost, and alongside Jo Moxham and Anna Pinner, Williams defended intently.

The third quarter saw Royston draw level following some clever movement and shooting by Emma Kelly. However, Hertford edged in front late in the quarter.

The final period saw Hertford pull further away, despite player-of-the-match Pinner's best efforts.

Royston: Kelly, Stimpson, Hume, Higton, Williams, Huttleston, Pinner, Moxham.
