The Cougars ran out worthy 7-1 winners after playing some fine football. And despite missing an early penalty, Michael Holland bounced back with two first-half strikes, before Tom Dolden added his first for the club.
Buntingford increased their lead further in the second half, with Holland notching his hat-trick and Scott Piggott, Alfie Long and Johnson adding further strikes.
There were also plenty of goals in Buntingford Cougars under-14s' win against Baldock Town Knights, with Joe Pemberton setting Cougars on the road to a 4-2 victory.
Pemberton grabbed two first-half goals, before Baldock pulled one back early in the second half. However, the Cougars replied with another when Oliver Lee-Stevens headed home James Clannell's free kick.
The lively Pemberton then completed the scoring with his well-taken third after some good play from man-of-the-match James Lovegrove before Baldock grabbed a late consolation.
There were no goals however in Buntingford Cougars under-10s Stripes' draw with Stevenage Borough Patriots.
Buntingford pushed hard to break the deadlock, but found the Stevenage keeper a worthy opponent. At the other end Cougars' number one Albert Bourke kept the Patriots attack at bay with a man-of-the-match performance.
Buntingford Cougars under-13s battled hard in their game with Sawbridgeworth, and after having a goal disallowed lost 3-2.
Stand-in keeper Lewis Fitzgerald was outstanding throughout, but had little chance with the Sawbridgeworth goals.
Darren Aldridge opened the day's account with a controlled finish, with Buntingford's second coming from George Harris following Jonathan Bowell's corner.
It was mixed fortunes for Buntingford Cougars under-8s Whites and Blues in what turned out to be two hard fought games with St Neots.
The Whites won 2-1, with Jordan Moore giving the Cougars an early lead, before St Neots replied with a well-taken leveller.
However, after an end-to-end second half, Alex Hewer popped up with the winner.
The Blues, however, were less fortunate, and despite a battling performance slipped to a 2-1 defeat. Matthew Inman grabbed the Blues' only goal with a deserved close range finish.
