WAYNE Hunt and Hugo Christie won the Golf Foundation Adult/Junior foursomes event at Royston Golf Club on Sunday.

Receiving 12 shots from their combined handicaps, the pair played some steady golf to amass 40 points.

It was however, the back nine of 20 points which was to be pivotal in their success as the countback rule was required to separate the top three pairs.

Daniel Smith and Alastair Horwood took second spot from Lauren Hunt and Robin Christie.

The juniors at Royston narrowly lost to Cambridge Golf Club recently, in the semi-final of the County Plate.

Tom Smith and Greg Fyson had a close match, eventually winning 2up.

Henry James, making his debut and partnered by James Smith in the greensomes format, started nervously and although they played some good golf on the back nine it was not enough and they lost 4 & 3.

The match hinged on the last pairing of Adam McKenzie and Matthew Barrett, which resulted in a missed two metre putt on the last green for a one hole loss for the Royston pair.
