FULL-STRENGTH Hatley travelled to Bassingbourn and took a firm grip on the game from the start.

The visitors batted first and set a target of 170, with Earl Davenport top- scoring with 46, and Lance Anderson (22) and Tim Davenport (20) also chipping in.

A solid partnership of 40 from Jim Knibbs and Harold Nickerson in the last few overs also added to the runs and was enough to set a testing target.

Bassingbourn bowler McInalty finished with his team's best figures of 4-41.

In reply Bassingbourn were all out for 126, with Robinson top scoring with 48.

Steve Hooley was the pick of the Hatley attack with 4-12, supported by Knibbs, Jack Lenton, and Smokey Oakes, who all took two wickets each.

The Hatley fielding was also top notch, with Davenport and Willy Perry claiming two great catches.
