Hormead Hares Girls U-12 2 Histon Hornets 4 HARES' first 11-a-side game ended in disappointment, although they did manage to dominate the closing stages of the game. Despite a strong rearguard action from the home side, and Sarah Bruerton pulling off several great saves, it was Histon who took a two-goal lead. Hormead then began to pass the ball well, and after a flowing move, including some neat footwork from Katie Jennings and Gabriella Hodgson, Hope Bayford-Smith smashed the ball home. Histon then broke and regained their advantage. But in the final 20 minutes it was all Hormead, and following some persistent work from new girl Rachael Harris scored with a deflected shot. After going close again through Summer Winkworth, Jennings and Bayford-Smith again, Histon again broke to wrap things up with a fourth goal.
