CRAIG Hammond hopes to hit his 30th league goal of the campaign next week, but he believes there's more to come. Much, much more.

The Crows striker already has 29 league goals in the bag from just 13 games, but with 17 league games left to play until the end of the season Hammond believes he could even get to the 50 goal mark.

Of course he will have to wait until the team actually gets to play again - they have not had a first team game since January 31 and their match against Cranfield United on Tuesday was called off.

"All we've done in the past few weeks is train and although it's good for the team spirit to have a laugh it's frustrating not being able to play," said Hammond, who has also scored eight goals in cup competitions this season.

"It's one thing running for long periods when training, but it's another thing when you have to stop, start, stop, start on the pitch and need to keep up our match fitness.

"We've got the game against Tokyngton Manor next week and they're a tough side but I feel we've got enough to break them down and snatch all three points.

"Hopefully I can get another goal and although I haven't actually set myself a target for the season I'd love to get 50 goals.

"It'll be really difficult, but it's not going to be impossible. It's just over one goal a game."

Hammond has scored seven in the last four league games, including a hat trick away to Sporting London e Benfica, before the weather led to postponements, and he also acknowledges the work of his teammates.

"It's annoying that I was on a good run and then the weather interrupted as I would have liked to have continued putting them away.

"All the other lads are feeling the same about the postponed matches.

"The team spirit this season is really good and it's the best there's been since I've been there.

"Everyone believes in each other and as Paul Attfield has already said this season we have got a really strong squad together including younger players who have come in and have helped us beat teams in the Premier Division in cup games and who have also come in and done a good job in the league games."

Royston are currently top of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, eight points clear of Kings Langley with three games in hand.

Speaking about his team's chances of promotion, Hammond said: "Although we won't be saying that we will go up, we're in a really good position and all we need to do is keep putting the performances in and getting the goals.
