ARRAN Grimes produced another fine display in the Arthur Melling Memorial Tennis League.

In the reverse fixture from last week, Grimes again beat Marvin Joyner and broke an eight year old record in the process.

By only losing one set in 16 and winning five matches on the bounce, Grimes has produced the best start to a season since the league's creation in 2001.

Joyner showed signs of improvement but still failed to get anywhere near the standard of Grimes, his frustration showing when he was penalised one point for foul and abusive language after a double fault.

With Grimes' closest rival, veteran Trevor Huntley, struggling to recover from a recurring knee injury, it seems with only a quarter of the season gone the title could already be decided.
