A STRONG finish to the race helped Griffin Motorsport to first place in their class at the Emerald Stage Rally held at Rockingham Raceway.

Griffin started the first couple of stages cautiously, wary that there might be frost on the track, but this proved not to be the case, and they were able to post some competitive times.

However, at the half way stage they were 24th overall and second in their class, and needed to make up nine seconds to take top spot.

Stages five, six, and seven saw them close the gap to one second, and despite sliding on to the grass at one point during stage eight, a dash to the line saw them take victory by one second.

Griffin also picked up maximum points in the AMEC championship.
