Greneway School’s Years 5 and 6 swimming team beat St Christopher School in Letchworth in the annual meeting between the two sides.

All the Greneway swimmers swam PBs for 25m and in the relay teams. The effort and team spirit shown was “exceptional” with 75 per cent of the swimmers also making their competitive debuts for the school.

The boys team scored 40 points to St Christopher’s 35 in a trilling competition and the girls scored 46 to the hosts’ 39 to leave Greneway edging overall 86 to 74.

A school spokesman said: “A well-organised event at a superb venue and carried out in the right spirit by all involved. Once again the strong links between Greneway School and the premier Royston SC have proved invaluable.”

Anyone interested in swimming for the club can contact Royston Leisure Centre. Swimming nights are Mondays and Fridays, 6-8pm.
