GRENEWAY'S Year 7 team triumphed over the unbeaten and much-fancied Knights Templar School.

Captain Jamie Seabrook won the toss and decided to bat first on the slow, artificial wicket.

And it was a decision that proved wise, when openers Seabrook and Kieran Willis-Wright took the total to 22 before Seabrook was dismissed.

Willis-Wright soon followed, leaving Greneway on 29-2, before John Middlemas batted intelligently for his 11 - eight of which came from two cover drive boundaries.

Roberto Thomas was trapped lbw, and Jordan Hall, Max McLean, Michael Viera-Roodenberg, and Ashley Chapman all added valuable runs as the visitors ended on 96-6.

Knights Templar started well with 14 from eight balls. However, they then lost their opener through a brilliant run out by Viera-Roodenberg and Seabrook.

This put them on the back foot, and tighter bowling from Seabrook and Willis-Wright, supported by some excellent fielding put Knights Templar under some immense pressure.

Three wickets in eight balls from Willis-Wright ripped the heart out of the batting, and Greneway continued to pile on the agony as all their bowlers found success with good line and length.

With the hosts needing 14 off their last over, Liam Purkiss bowled superbly to see Greneway through to a six-run win to maintain their 100 per cent league record.
