Sport is thriving at Greneway Middle School after the Royston institution achieved the School Games Gold Kitemark award for the third successive year.

This national kitemark recognises high quality physical education and school sport, with at least two hours of curriculum time per week devoted to PE. Greneway currently offers three hours.

North East Herts School Games organiser and kitemark assessor, Jan Wood said: “It is always a pleasure working with, and alongside, the school and this award is very well deserved showing consistency of high quality teaching and sporting excellence.”

Meanwhile, Greneway assistant headteacher and head of PE Terry Graves complimented the school’s teamwork.

Graves said: “It has never been more important for our young people to access, participate in, and commit to, high quality physical education and school sport and extend this into lifelong, healthy experiences.”
