Bishop's Stortford Northolt U-14 2 Royston Town Colts 3 TWO superb strikes by super-sub Ollie Pemberton helped Colts secure all three points after trailing by two goals early in the second half. A promising start by Royston seemed to get even better with the award of an early penalty, but Ryan Ingrey's effort sailed harmlessly over the bar. Colts' efforts at attack generally petered out, mainly due to some poor passing, and consistent Northolt pressure was rewarded when a free header secured the opening goal. As in previous weeks Colts upped the tempo and were much better after the break. But that could not prevent Northolt from doubling their lead thanks to an excellent through ball and clinical finish. Royston, to their credit, were unfazed, and within minutes the ball fell to the feet of Pemberton, who surged forward and drove a powerful low shot past the Northolt keeper. Scenting an equaliser, the visitors continued to push forward, finally stringing some good passes together. Jake Woodford had a shot saved before Pemberton again intervened, this time lofting the ball over the keeper and into the net. Frenetic exchanges followed, but it was Royston who were to gain the upper hand, as a speculative effort from distance by Harry Noades slipped through the hands of the unfortunate keeper and put Colts ahead for the first time. There was still time for some late drama as Northolt struck the crossbar in the final moments, but Colts held on for a valuable win that consolidate their grip on mid-table safety. Royston Celtic U-10 A 5 Herts Rangers A 0 AN EXCELLENT team performance gave Celtic a comfortable win over Rangers. Celtic started well, playing some good football with Ollie Sole causing problems for the visitors defence. It was Sole who put the hosts in front with a neat finish early on and then got his second with a good header from Edward Brown's corner. Another flowing move resulted in Celtics third when Soles cross was superbly finished from Joe Maude on his A team debut. Celtic were now running riot and got their fourth before half-time, when from another Brown corner, Joe Walsh headed home for his first Celtic goal. Royston continued to play some lovely football in the second half and would have scored more, but for a great display by the visitors' keeper. Celtic eventually got a fifth when Liam Tidey's shot was parried and Sole followed up to claim his hat-trick. Luac Dusi came close to adding another late on but was denied by a great clearance on the line. Bishop's Stortford Ath U-11 2 Royston Town Colts A 1 COLTS can count themselves unlucky not to have taken at least a share of the points from their battling display against Athletic that ended in a repeat of the scoreline from earlier this season. Fine individual performances from Lewis Hunter, Jack Bailey and captain, Jake Benstead, underpinned a terrific all-round team effort from Colts still searching for their first away points of the season. However, even they were eclipsed by a superb display of goalkeeping from John Middlemass, whose brave and agile display between the sticks ensured Colts remained in contention throughout the match. Athletic began the stronger, Colts affording their opponents too much respect with their back four of Chapman, Cooney, Hunter and Kilroy all having to work overtime and Middlemass producing a string of fine saves to keep Athletic at bay. Stortford finally took the lead from a corner but this only served to fire up Colts, who started to play some great football. Towards the break, Cooney put Bailey through down the right, who turned the fullback inside out, equalising with a deceptive cross which the keeper was unable to hold. Athletic caught Colts again at the start of the second period, taking the lead from a well-worked move through the middle. After that, the rest of the half belonged to Colts, but they just could not get back on equal terms despite the best efforts of Saggers, Faletta and Sekobawane, Athletic took the points. Broadhall Youth U-10 1 Baldock Town Crusaders 1 AFTER an early scare, Baldock soon got on top, and the Broadhall keeper was in action saving shots from Ryan Savage and Connor Doyle. Then a good run from Alex Close, a quick pass to Doyle who swept the ball on to Savage to give Baldock the lead. A minute later Close nearly scored himself, the shot hitting a post. Dean Brown, made a terrific run down the left wing, but again the Broadhall keeper made a save. A minute into injury time saw Broadhall have their second attack, and a good individual run was capped with a goal for the home team. Baldock carried on the second half as the first, non-stop attacking. Close again found Jordan Massey in space and this time the shot was on target, but the Broadhall keeper was exceptional, making a double save as Massey followed the shot in. With 10 minutes remaining Baldock threw caution to the wind and played with only one defender. They thought they had finally done enough when Massey was brought down in the box, but the Broadhall keeper could not be beaten even from the penalty spot. However Broadhall broke away and Kendle had to make a save at the other end, but was injured in the process. With two minutes to go Baldock sent stand in keeper Massey forward as Daniel Nicholson won a series of corners on the right. It seemed to have paid off when Massey sent a header goalwards, but again the Broadhall keeper made the save. Broadhall quickly counter attacked, but lone defender Iain Angus somehow made a last-gasp tackle to keep it all square.
